The Colorado territory which encompassed the majority of the Southern Rocky Mountains, the northeastern portion of the Colorado Plateau and the western edge of the Great Plains, became the 38th state in the union on August 1, 1876. Known for the four corners, (a common point with Arizona, Utah and New Mexico) the "Centennial State" is just one of three (including Wyoming and Utah) without natural borders. Encompassing 104,094 square miles, Colorado's landscape includes mountains, plains, mesas, canyons, plateaus, rivers and desert. With a total of 54 "fourteeners", Mount Elbert is the state's highest peak at 14,433 feet above sea level.

Each image has been carefully selected to reflect the variety and the grandeur of this magnificent location - we hope they will inspire you to celebrate the wonder of His creation!
** The following informational text is shown on the Traditional back cover **
In 1909 Enos Mills envisioned preserving part of Colorado's pristine Rocky Mountain wilderness as a location where future generations could find rest and hope. After several years of passionately sharing his vision through writing many articles and letters, giving lectures nationwide and lobbying congress, the vision for America's tenth national park was realized. With the highest average elevation of any of our national parks, 358.3 square miles known as Rocky Mountain National Park was established on January 26, 1915 by President Woodrow Wilson. Today, the park has grown to more than 415 square miles with an additional 465 acres being added when Congress approved the expansion to include the area known as Lily Lake in 1990. Averaging nearly three million visitors per year, the park is a favorite destination of tourists from around the world.
